The VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitor) works by releasing vapor corrosion-inhibiting compounds that form a microscopic, undetectable protective layer on the metal surfaces inside the tire. This layer blocks the electrochemical process that leads to corrosion, which is the main cause of slow leaks in the bead seat area. The vapor actively prevents corrosion from starting, protecting steel and aluminum rims for up to two years.
